The Legend of the Stones of Dominion

Long before kingdoms rose and fell, before the first great cities were built, there were those who believed the world was shaped by forces beyond the understanding of ordinary men.
According to the oldest legends, these forces were bound into a collection of stones of extraordinary power. The Stones of Dominion.
No one knows who first created them, or whether they were created at all. Some ancient traditions claim they were gifts from the gods or beings who walked the earth before mankind. Others insist they were forged from the remnants of a power that existed at the beginning of the world.
What is known is that the stones were scattered across the earth and hidden from those who would use their power to rule.
Over the centuries, kings sought them. Conquerors hunted for them. Secret orders devoted generations to finding them. Entire civilizations disappeared while searching for stones that many believed were nothing more than myth.
Yet the old stories persist.
Fragments of the legends survived in forgotten manuscripts, sacred texts, ancient songs, and folktales passed from one generation to the next. Hidden within those stories are clues to where the stones were concealed—and warnings about what might happen if they were ever gathered again.
Most people believe the Stones of Dominion are nothing more than the remnants of an ancient legend.
They are wrong.
Though the stories have faded into myth, some still know the truth.
